Same here. I feel like at this time, Thief 1 missions were a lot more rare. So something was beholden to higher standards.

That said, the contest this mission was a part of had a lot of much better entries, that were rated lower (Shadow Play comes to mind).

This mission reminds me of "Saints and Thieves" in terms of how underrated it is. It's really good, quite big and mostly easy to traverse. It has a great, somber ambient track play in the background. That track really adds to the mission.

Seems like a pretty buggy mission. In the beginning, the thief I was meant to chase fell in the water after being semi-alerted to me right in front of the mansion he was supposed to enter. Great review. Black Parade is an amazing achievement, but it's not perfect. I'd say: try more fan missions, there are popular missions that far exceed Black Parade's levels in terms of ambition and scope.

If you look out for missions made by authors Nicked, Skacky, Melan, Schlock, DirkBogan, DrK, Firemage, Random_Taffer, and some other notable ones, you won't regret it.

Better than The Ashen Age

The Cinder Notes just feels smoother to play. Though the level is smaller, it contains more pathways to reach various parts of the mission. The mission is easier, but just feels more fun compared to Ashen Age. A highlight is the abandoned Hammerite Seminary.

Whispers in the Desert just works really well. It's far from groundbreaking. It's a tomb raid, not particularly big or tense. It's filled with cool traps, however, complimented by a unique and exotic location that's rarely visited in Thief.

I agree with nanao. The ambience of the city is very repetitive and sounds grating.
