T2X: Shadows of the Metal Age,
More than sum of its parts:
I often wondered why T2X is so famous, and why from all Thief fan-missions, this campaign received the most attention in gaming sites, and from people who usually aren't interested in fan-made content. Despite its share of flaws (small or huge - depends from each person's perspective), it still remains one of the most popular pieces of Thief FM content, far above some other classics like Seven Sisters, Broken Triad, Dracula (and Bathory - Dracula's more advanced sibling), CoSaS, Rocksbourg se...,

Mine Saga,
Mine Affairs:
I've played Mine Saga long time ago. Overall quality is a bit uneven between four missions of pack. First two are typical warming up exercises for 7-15 min each. First one is mine and second is small manor. Nothing exceptional I can say about them aside from pitch-black darkness in first mission.
The real meat of campaign is the third mission, set in mountains. It is the biggest one, and took half of playtime spent on entire campaign. It has several locations of interest - Hammerite compo...,

House of the Architect,
Nice mash-up:
The story in House of the Architect is minimal: all you need is to simply rob another manor. There's only one difference from the same jobs - the manor belongs to architector of Bafford's and Constantine's mansions.
Therefore, the mission was clearly meant as mix of Thief 1's opening level and The Sword. But it feels like either overgrown Shadow Play or throwback to era of earlier Thief 1 fan-missions - like Order of the Vine or Mystery Man. The mansion consists of several GIGANTIC floor...,

Intertheft,
Thieves Guild done differently:
This mission is remake of OM Thieves Guild in truest sense: the level (while it still has readables, conversations and tasks from original Thieves Guild) had been redone and reconstructed from scratch, with different layout. As I said objectives are the same - to steal the vase of Lord Randall from quarreling heads of Downwinder Thieves Guild. And still, the way how the mission is structured is similar to original mission: several manor-like houses connected by net of underground tunnels and ...,

The Lieutenant 1: In Plain Sight,
Spy work:
In Plain Sight has very simple setup: you are the spy sent into town of Watchgate to investigate rumours about uprising of local elites and - at the same time - to find out what happened with your predecessor. Since you are an undercover agent, your disguise is a daring thief who commits a series of robberies to avert suspicions about the real motive behind your interference. So in general, mission plays as typical thief mission (though loot goal is optional) with some detective work.

Augustine's Revenge,
Circular way from beginning to end:
... Unlike typical Thief FM, here we are participating not in clashes between "Holy Trinity" of The City universe - Keepers, Hammerites and Pagans, but find ourselves involved in classic feudal feud between Prince Robert and Prince Augustine, whose revenge we should put onto Robert's head. So begins our trudging to the Robert's citadel through the labyrinth of city compartments, houses, warehouses etc.
On the other hand the mission is quite typical for BBB's style. Playing through his o...,

Curse of the Ancients,
Long forgotten gem:
Curse of the Ancients is old classic tomb-raiding affair, in which you should "acquire" some old relics from another underground complex with Lost City aesthetics - while fighting (or avoiding) lots of undead and solving puzzles. What is different is that you start in haunted city section (in which you should gather some additional information about your targets) from which you may proceed to the tomb complex.
In general, Curse of the Ancients seems like mix of Haunted Cathedral's sealed ...,

Circle of Stone and Shadow 2: Mission X,
Sandbox:
Unlike its predecessor, Mission X could be overwhelming at first. It's the mission in which you should infiltrate some huge and posh casino to make some sabotaging. Also you re not alone, and your work is to assist your "colleagues" from Circle of Stone and Shadow. Your actions help them to reach theirs, and if you fail your job, the game is over. The scope of both building and your task is tremendous, and not many missions, original or fanmade, could equal this mission. Perhaps, the closest...,

Does the job right:
I played Noble Affairs quite a long time ago. It is city mission, not very big but compact. Aside from your main task - breaking into another mansion you can visit several optional locations, and perform set of optional objectives (in form of contracts like those in T2's Being Thief 2 or TDM's Chronicles of Skulduggery series) which can provide you with several hours of additional adventures.
What is obvious in very first minutes, - is that it is heavily customized mission: there is femal...,

Upside Down,
One night as a guard taffer:
Yes, it is very original mission. Sadly it is not discussed much among players though it certainly strays from usual Thief-gameplay formula (which perhaps IS the cause of it). Surprisingly very dynamic and feels like some kind of single-player Thief-match - since being guard, you must protect valuables from thieves by... "stealing" them first (and under time constraints)! Perhaps the best (and def the most original) mission by Zontik.,

Rose Garden,
Mystic and menacing city adventure:
I would not call Rose Garden "the best fan mission for Thief games ever made", but it certainly keeps me hooked during several hours each time I replay it. The main cause I guess is how deceptively impenetrable this mission seems at first look and how unobvious could be the ways of approaching your objectives here. Each time I face with some new content I haven't noticed before. The plot (and some readables) also contributes a lot to the mysterious feeling of the entire thing: Garrett's quest...,

Circle of Stone and Shadow 1: Gathering at the Inn,
In the midst of winter:
Circle of Stone and Shadow series are usually known for the second installment - Mission X, grandiose and posh casino/hotel heist and sabotaging. The prequel, Gathering at the Inn - is much smaller and less discussed among players, and I think it deserves a bit more recognition. The plot here is about some kind of initiation of young Dante, who wants to join eponymous Circle of Stone and Shadow and therefore must pass some trial run - to rob small snowed inn and its inhabitants of scepters ...,

The Bridge,
Oversized (and a bit shallow), but admirably ambitious:
The Cabot was made by another author, Flux. He (or she) also made Valley, pagan-themed semi-sequel to Cabot.
As for this mission - I felt it a bit empty from loot in the city part, and keyhunt in the mansion was a bit too complicated. On the other side - some optional quests, and the mission is quite good-looking.,

I agree. I like Xorak's next "Zealot's Hollow" and "Little Fly" is very beautiful and plot was interesting (though I don't like the idea of revisiting OM location - the mission was made for one of Reloaded Contests, but was a bit late). But those puzzles... I guess I should have played it on lower difficulties - with puzzles being less complex. I stuck at almost each step, each puzzles.,
