Rose Garden,
Mystic and menacing city adventure:
I would not call Rose Garden "the best fan mission for Thief games ever made", but it certainly keeps me hooked during several hours each time I replay it. The main cause I guess is how deceptively impenetrable this mission seems at first look and how unobvious could be the ways of approaching your objectives here. Each time I face with some new content I haven't noticed before. The plot (and some readables) also contributes a lot to the mysterious feeling of the entire thing: Garrett's quest...,

Circle of Stone and Shadow 1: Gathering at the Inn,
In the midst of winter:
Circle of Stone and Shadow series are usually known for the second installment - Mission X, grandiose and posh casino/hotel heist and sabotaging. The prequel, Gathering at the Inn - is much smaller and less discussed among players, and I think it deserves a bit more recognition. The plot here is about some kind of initiation of young Dante, who wants to join eponymous Circle of Stone and Shadow and therefore must pass some trial run - to rob small snowed inn and its inhabitants of scepters ...,

The Bridge,
Oversized (and a bit shallow), but admirably ambitious:
The Cabot was made by another author, Flux. He (or she) also made Valley, pagan-themed semi-sequel to Cabot.
As for this mission - I felt it a bit empty from loot in the city part, and keyhunt in the mansion was a bit too complicated. On the other side - some optional quests, and the mission is quite good-looking.,

What've You Found Little Fly?,
90s adventure game in spirit.:
I agree. I like Xorak's next "Zealot's Hollow" and "Little Fly" is very beautiful and plot was interesting (though I don't like the idea of revisiting OM location - the mission was made for one of Reloaded Contests, but was a bit late). But those puzzles... I guess I should have played it on lower difficulties - with puzzles being less complex. I stuck at almost each step, each puzzles.,

Calendra's Legacy,
I really wanted to love it but...:
It seems like CL evokes different feelings: I like MiM because of its challenge and because of "undead event" - which itself significantly changes gameplay conditions. The last mission while not being as good (in fact, it is quite empty and feels disjointed from the main storyline), but still has lots of stuff with the Gaston's hideout and with THAT compartment.,

OK. I personally prefer Dirty Money to Vanishing Point (which itself is still very good for me), but I can understand that it could be a bit too tangled for other tastes.,

Yes, I agree that keyhunt stuff in this mission could be a problem. I'm really sorry, it seems I made wrong offer.
You said also that you like small missions and with less amount of keyhunt stuff. There are some of them you might be interested in - 72-hours contest missions Vanishing Point (for T2) and also - maybe - bigger Dirty Money (for TG). The latter though could be a bit of tangled and labyrinthine in some sections. Zontik's mission, Upside Down is also small - and unlike his other...,

The Walk,
A very simple, but respectably built fan mission:
I played them long time ago, and agree about The Walk. Bad Feeling was also ok, but I recall that something in it (loot goal, I think) was frustrating. Also - have you played Cabot and Avoiding Mistrust? They aren't small, but more like small-to-medium-sized mansion missions in vein of Lord Bafford Manor.,

I like that keys here (except for runes) are just optional and mostly just simplify our traversing through the locations rather then being essentially needed.,

Deadeye,
Challenging bite-sized adventure:
"Deadeye" is not story-heavy. All you should know is that there is small gang of street thugs and their leader is the one you should either kill or take for ransom. The mission is essentially small (you can complete it in 12-25 min.) but twisted corridor with occasional branches, and obstacles - both passive (like doors or candles) and active (guards). But id does good job with its content: combining well-placed light-sources (which you can't take and transfer into more safe location), and si...,

Thief's Rising - Gold Edition,
Hard and engaging; frustrating and disappointing:
This big fan-made campaign deserves exactly those words I put into the title - I rarely played the fan-mission that evoked such mixed, contradicting feelings as this one. We are play for the Reuben (not the Reuben-leader of Thieves' Guild, but other, younger), who lives not in the City (yet) but in the city on nearby Bale island. He got framed by some mysterious order - which is somehow connected with werewolves - and now tries to destroy the order and hence following the steps of one of the...,

The Black Mage,
Worthy effort and fine tribute:
The premise of "The Black Mage" is simple: our "Man With No Name"-type anti-hero is hired by local peasant to infiltrate the castle of local lord Davenport, find out what happened to peasant's son named Robert and (if there would be need) rescue him from the castle. But as soon as our thief begins investigation, things complicate more and more, with Black Magic being involved.
"The Black Mage" was originally made by Grayman, who sadly passed away earlier this year and so the work was cont...,

Off to Milhorn Manor (Overhaul Edition),
Good manor mission that keeps the player engaged.:
Yes agree, it is typical mansion mission, but keeps right (more or less) balance. It is difficult but not to frustrating level puzzle-wise. Also story was not over-explaining (in fact, it felt even minimalistic) and mysterious enough to keep me interested. It reminds me both OM Lord Bafford's Manor and something like FM Unsung Villain (but it's bigger than that). Though I don't know what was in the original version.,

I'm not criticizing you. I haven't played this mission in particular, but I found that architecture is not strongest aspect of bbb's missions - judging from ones I've played: Short Night's Work, Hammer Skull and Nigel's Hidden Treasure. Yeah, it's quite boxy, basic and on very simplistic side. Also visual design of interiors sometimes may vary from quite detailed to very basic. So I think you raise a fair point.
