Six years after discovering Thief and its FMs + TDM I finally found that true gem that I soaked in to the ground. Damn... now I think I have to decrease the ratings of all the missions I've ever played by one xD Clearly 11/10 mission for me...

This mission has an impressive sense of scale, style and atmosphere. The opening vistas and ascent are not something you have seen before in a TDM mission.
I have heard this described as small mission, but there is a lot of thoughtfulness put into the verticality, intricacy and interconnected nature of the layout.

For an early mission this one is remarkably well put together and interesting. Stuck in an underground tomb complex, you have to gather your gear, escape, and deal with a mysterious evil as well as dishing out some personal revenge along the way.

I like Mage Towers. The atmosphere and OST in the earth and air tower are great, and overall it´s a nice addition to have another faction here. It seems they planned more with the Hand Brotherhood but unfortunately it was cut from Thief 2.

This mission is a heap of fun if you're in the mood for a short heist.

This doesn´t mean it´s not without flaws.

Ok, I know about the circumstances regarding the making of Thief 2, that LGS was in trouble/under pressure and that a Gold edition was planned...but then LGS was closed.
Still, this doesn´t make "Casing the Joint" better.
Designwise I can´t complain - I like the big mansion, and in Masks we can even see more of it and have more freedom.

Well, to be honest, I never really liked that level. Yes, there are some qualities. The Keeper grotto OST is nice. And the idea in general seems ok. Bonehoard defined the tomb mission genre in Thief.
In the meantime many great other tomb missions were made. We have seen awesome work like the Catacombs of Knoss and many others of the like.

My biggest issue here is the story. Garrett decides to destroy a clocktower. Because he interpreted the prophecy that way.

Thieves Guild is one of the Gold levels that tends to get a lot of dislike.
