Briefing

-- Our characters:
• Theobald, leader of a thieves' guild called The Stepsons.
• Rackamore, leader of a thieves' guild called The Nighthawks.
• Yilgun the Red, a thief, Theobald's second in command.
• Caine Caradoc, the local apothecary. He is secretly a skilled assassin and poisoner.
• Lukas Garva, a wealthy shipping magnate who owns a local warehouse.

-- Briefing:
In the city of Thrax, the criminal underworld is controlled by two wardens: Theobald and Rackamore. Each warden commands a guild of thieves and other unsavory types. Not long ago the two guilds were openly at war, and the streets were a night-time battleground.

For the past two years, an uneasy peace has held. The two wardens have agreed to split control of the city, with Theobald in the north and Rackamore holding the south. Today Rackamore received a report from his spy in Theobald's organization. Theobald's second in command, one Yilgun by name, has arranged for a crate of poisoned wine to be delivered to Theobald's home. The warden's love for Stonemarket reds is well known, and in his mansion such bottles will not sit unopened for long.

Yilgun plans to blame Theobald's poisoning on Rackamore, which will most likely rekindle the flames of war between the two guilds. Bloodshed is bad for business, so something must be done. As one of Rackamore's Nighthawks, you have been tasked with solving this problem. Sneak into Theobald's manor and remove the poisoned wine.

Also Yilgun needs to go. The Hammer church has some basement cells where they hold prisoners for a short time before they are sent to a more permanent destination. Leave Yilgun in one of those cells and he'll be on the wagon to Cragscleft in the morning.

The local apothecary prepared the poisoned wine for Yilgun. It's for the best if he leaves town as well. Place a threatening note on his bed to make the point.

Venomous Ambition sets the player on a discreet mission to a rival gang leader’s mansion, with the goal of averting a potentially consequential assassination attempt - and a golden opportunity to take care of some side business and grab a bit of nice loot along the way.
