And, yes, I understand your objections about the spike in difficulty. It's also something most FM authors don't understand. That many of their missions are MUCH more difficult than the original missions, thus hard for casual players.

I couldn't agree more. Especially in the last 5 years or so, there has been a trend to bigger and bigger missions, and not an emphasis on making the missions fun to explore and play. Now that you say it, yeah, the hitbox of the dogs is really pretty strange. Kinda like with burricks, just even more small/low.
At least they don't notice you from 2 kilometres away, like real dogs...
TBH, I found them a bit expendable though. Not my cup of tea, and, I don't really see the point.
If you want to stick with how it's done in the original Thief games, then it's indeed rather a difference in loot count, additional objectives, no kill objectives, sometimes even no knockout objectives, rather than raising the overall difficulty with the difficulty settings. But, I think I prefer it that way anyway. I always play on Expert, and, the original missions are all absolutely doable, as are other fan missions.
