Continuing the nature of the previous update post, here is a summary of what happened in June.
First of all, I need to say big thanks to our first patron! SPIDIvonMARDER (https://www.thiefguild.com/user/10/spidivonmarder) has paid a donation this month. Thank you very very much, my friend. Although symbolic, the value will allow us to cover the costs of our server running for several months.
Moreover, Thief Guild will now run with no ads completely! It will stay like this for an undefined amount of time, let's say.
Any donation is proof that Thief Guild has its own value. So now, I able to say it officially: Thief Guild is a valuable portal.
In case of future donations, we need to think about more transparency of how many funds are needed and what is already collected. But there are also other more important things to do, that I would like to reveal soon, preferably in July. And time is limited.
Secondly, TTLG's Thief 2 20th Anniversary Contest was settled (https://www.thiefguild.com/news/1/19830/). Congrats to every single builder. Each of you showed the result of time and skill. The former being not always easy to manage, and the latter being improvement with every mission released.
I'm happy the hidden rating feature worked with no ... bigger issues ;) And now, after everything is visible again, you are able to check individual ratings and general classification of contest missions.
As in my previous post, here is a list of other changes and fixes made this month:
- Updated many download links, although still a lot of them are missing. We need to think about some semi-automated approach and update the entire database more efficiently. - Allowed the cover pictures to be set as background, which is sometimes the desired effect. - Fixed a rare case in which failed login didn't show a proper error message - Made it possible to search not only by fan mission title but also by: author name, author nick, author role, and work series name. So, for example, you are able to search "anniversary" which will show you all anniversary related contests. - No need to hit the "Apply" button in FM filtering anymore :) When filtering is changed, the page will refresh by itself now, so the button is now removed. - Fixed a bug that displayed author names incorrectly. For some FMs that have exactly two authors, on FM list page, the database displayed only the name of the first author, but two times! That was caused by pseudo-randomization of DB returned results. So when a list of authors of a FM was Melan + Bikerdude, the DB first returned it as Melan + Bikerdude, then Bikerdude + Melan. This, in effect, resulted with the first author accounted as "Melan" and the second author accounted as "Melan", too. A funny case that I thought might be worth sharing :)
Can't find the missions "The Enterprise", "Schulmod", "Mansion 48", the Japanese mission "The Drop", "Elevator Mission v1" (T1), "Elevator Mission v2" (T1) and the standalone releases of "Tuttocomb's Tomb" and "Escape from Guilesatpeak" in the database. Would be cool if these were added.
Mansion 48: There is no info file, but the author placed a scroll at the starting point: "This is not a real FM. This mission only exists because people asked me what I could build in DromEd. It is unfinished and unfun. It is, however, compleatable."
Seems like this mission wasn't officially released. <Username>, do you know following data about the mission? - Author - Target game: T1/T2 - Release date - Download link(s)
