Briefing

To be brief, Garrett broke into the heart of the town of Rocksbourg. But he didn't expect the place to be so vast and well-guarded. Stuck in a real labyrinth, he seeks a way out.

As he searches for an exit, he notices a lot of refugees. He heard rumors about some incidents that occured in the city. It seems that Rocksbourg has been invaded by some kind of undead... Absurd. Anyway the dead aren't a priority, for now he must get out alive.

In a corridor, he encounters some disabled Mechanist machines, the memories of a man's madness. Thinking he's safe, Garrett begins to pick a door... Well, he should have been more cautious : one of the machines wakes and attacks him from behind. Wounded, he manages to escape and find a way out. Unfortunately, as he climbs down a ladder, he falls and faints in the city streets.

A nightmare wakes him. What happened? And where is he? Blinded by candles, he slowly distinguishes a bedroom. His wounds are healed. But how, and who did it? Then he notices a man standing near him, a man who does not say a word. Still, he must have some explanation...

A Night in Rocksbourg 1 - A New Beginning was an absolute slog, horrible, excruciating slog, full of metal, clanks and horrifically numerous and long lockpicks (literally every locked door was locked 3 times, and it took AGES). And so... this returns here, to a lesser extent, but it does.

Metal, metal, metal, clank, clank, clank, triple lockp...

Feels like reliving the Hammerite Cathedral undead invasion from before the first Thief. The way the city is segmented into safe, borderline and danger zones is very well done. Everything is barely holding on. It along with the ambience and the ominous story glued everything together for me to enjoy this one a lot. The mission doesn't make sense...

Most people tend to like the third part the most, but to me, "Discovery" is even more atmospheric and has many more "whoa" places and moments.

The structure of the city underwent a major revamp in comparison to the first part. It's much more pleasant to move around and no longer as cramped. The crowds are still there, but they were made neutr...

As mentioned by the other users, this mission is basically ANIR 1 with improved gameplay, puzzles, and overall a more spacious layout compared to the first mission.

The atmosphere is thick with dread no doubt, but I absolutely love the start of the mission that takes place in a neutral area where you can take in the sights and not worry about...

This misison is much better than the previous one. DRK seems to have learned from their mistakes and puzzles/keys are not hidden trollishly. Very well done.
