Lost Among The Forsaken,
Objectively good FM:
I can't deny the craftsmanship that went into this FM. The city is well made, along with a fantastic map, and it is a great romp throughout. Subjectively, I'm a wet blanket when it comes to undead missions. Although in a lot of cases, undead missions should be better to me because there is no restriction on killing undead so it should be easier than blackjacking.
The few shortcomings that marred the mission from otherwise being better to me were:
-sewers being a labyrinth and i found out l...,

Lord Beilman's Estate,
Some fun easter eggs:
I enjoyed the room with books named after the author's other fan missions, and the gramophone and readables, although the latter were immersion breaking for Thief. The carrot easter egg was neat too but also immersion breaking.
Over all, I played this mission right after the author's Invitation to Castle Morgoth FM, and right off the bat there was a reduction in the immersion experienced in that mission. The nice thing about this mission was the relatively solid mansion job, and a nice three...,

Invitation to Castle Morgoth,
Atmospheric:
Is the word I would use to describe this mission. It was dripping in atmosphere. Garrett is invited to a haunted and mostly empty castle for a job. The gfx and sfx were very well done to enhance the spooky feeling in this mission. There were some undead, but all of them could be easily dispatched with your sword. There was somewhat a feeling of backtracking in this mission due to some locked doors you have to walk back through the map to open once you find the keys. It had a neat section wher...,

Circle of Strain Campaign,
A good learning example:
The CoS campaign is very simple, the first two missions took me about 40 minutes each and the third took me about an hour. These are bite sized mansion burglary missions that are simple yet not offensive. There are a few spiders and undead in somewhat optional areas, and the third mission clearly shows the author's growth as it becomes a moderately sized city-scape to romp about in. There are not many secrets or items crammed about, nor numerous keys or doors. The loot and the progression is ...,

I don't mean the gameplay of DX, just a futuristic brutalist FM that has a cyberpunk style setting, like the Blade Runner movies.,

FM settings/styles that haven't been explored:
The more FM's I play, the more different themes I see, in things like architecture, location, elements, and visual direction.
There are missions out there that emulate the MC Escher style of bizarre buildings like the original Thief mission The Sword. Small town missions, mansions, banks, sewers, snowy areas.. The uniqueness and breadth of scene is probably the most appealing thing about Thief FMs to me. But not everything has been made in Thief so far. What are some FM settings or designs...,

July 2020 Update: Controversies:
Can you add another sorting method for sorting FM's alphabetically by name A-Z and Z-A? That seems like a common search method that is missing.,

Darkness Walk With Us!,
Poor Garrett can't even take a weekend rest at a hotel:
The hook that pulls you in easy and patiently; Garrett has rented a room at a hotel and is planning on robbing the inhabitants blind. It was supposed to be a simple job. And it is, at first. The hotel is small and smartly laid out, everything is deceptively easy to pull off. And then he finds a passage in one of the rooms..
Without spoiling much else, this was a surprising mission in a few ways for me. First off, it had no map, and while many mapless missions end up on a pile of disappoint...,

Down in the Old Vault,
A heist with a twist:
This was a pretty solid FM throughout. There were some very nice features like the logbook keeping track of keys, and all of the keys you obtain going on a single ring. The map was quite large, but not complicated to the point of making you lost. The Thief 1 atmosphere shone through with the pagan elements, a nice bit of flavor that wasn't overbearing (just 4 or 5 non human enemies). I wouldn't call this a classic, but the well architected map along with the engaging gameplay put it in my arc...,

Ascend The Dim Valley,
Keep looking up:
Ascend the Dim Valley is a shining example of what the culmination of 20 years worth of FM's can and should lead to. I clocked in at a bit over 4 hours, trying to explore the entire map, and even then I ended up with ~4700 with 1000 loot missing.
The map is massive, placed within a small valley where two opposing lords in their mansions/castles face one another, and you must loot both of the huge buildings along with areas adjacent. The level design is labyrinthine in nature, greatly owed...,

Autumn in Lampfire Hills (v2),
Nice pumpkins:
The map design was pretty nice. You are in a small village and the map area itself it not very large, but there are many rooms making it compact, so there will be a decent amount of time spent playing. It took me 2-3 hours to complete. I was totally lost trying to understand where some switches were at a few points and regrettably had to use a walkthrough. The atmosphere was really neat with Garrett having a cozy cottage to retire in, and on halloween night he finds himself relieving his nei...,

One I will replay:
I'm making my comment here because it's the most up to date version, even though I played the 2000 release version. Calendra's Cistern really stood out to me as the first FM I played that was on the level of polish that I would believe you if you said it was made by the official LGS team. The mission area is huge and lasted a good 2-4 hours for me. The map design was great and had a lot of really enjoyable vertical segments as well as hidden passageways. The story was pretty decent as well, a...,

Between These Dark Walls,
Verticality:
This was one of my first FMs, and overall it was good, but felt a bit empty and aimless in places from what I remember. The most memorable feature of it that stuck with me was introducing the concept of verticality. So while it's not among my top FMs, the idea of verticality left a lasting impression with me.,
