There are several versions of T2X that you can download.

v1.1 - for FM loader
Normal ZIP archive that you can load using your FM Loader (FMSel, NewDarkLoader or AngelLoader). This version is reported to work with NewDark, although it was not designed with NewDark.

v1.1 - Windows installer
Self-extracting T2X installer for the original version of Thief 1.18.
Before installing this version, it's recommended to have Thief 2 installed in a new, dedicated folder.
Be sure to have Thief2 installed and patched to 1.18 before attempting to install T2X.

v1.1 - Necro Update
T2X v.1.1 with texture update from Necrobob as an archive for your FM loader (FMSel, NewDarkLoader or AngelLoader). This version is reported to work with NewDark, although it was not designed with NewDark.

This document lists the changes that were made to T2X version 1.1


Code and Gamesys
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

- New installation and launching method. Thief2X is now 100% self contained
and will no longer place any of its files into the Thief2 directory.

- Convict.osm & Darkhooks.dll are no longer removed when T2X is uninstalled.

- Lightgem tuning is now the same as in Thief 2 (in version 1.0 it was more
difficult for Zaya to hide in shadows than Garrett).

- By default, all T2X text and voice files will be considered international and
will not be contained in unique "english" folders.

- NPCs hit with an ice arrow and then a fire stimulus (such as a fire arrow)
will now be counted as "kills" instead of just getting "destroyed."


Art

- Body carry icons have all been updated with new art

- Old cobweb textures have been replaced

- Many small fixes to transparency problems with miscellaneous obj skins

- Many book textures replaced

- Some banner textures replaced

- Corona texture changed for lights

- Blood and water droplets updated slightly

- Finkle's accountant book texture redone

- 2 Down Among Dead Men textures updated

- 3 of the low res chest object skins replaced with better textures


Sound

-Zaya's climbing sounds lowered in volume slightly


Cutscenes
~~~~~~~~~~

-Audio remastered on all 4 cutscenes


Missions
~~~~~~~

- The first guard you see in Unexpected Shelter no longer begins in a T-stance.

- Accuracy of the archer in Unexpected Shelter is slightly decreased.

- Kedar now plays specific animations when he first meets Zaya instead of
"waiting" for set periods of time while playing idle animations. This
improves the timing of the first conversation.

- More cobwebs added to the basement of Malak's mansion in Unexpected
Shelter.

- Front doors of Malak's mansion are now indestructable in Unexpected
Shelter.

- You can no longer escape through the hole in the ghost room of the mansion
in Unexpected Shelter.

- Malak is now indestructable in Unexpected Shelter.

- The windows in The Trials that Shape us no longer resize to smaller
windows when broken.

- The text of Malak's note in While the City Sleeps has been updated so that
it is more clear that the elemental catalysts are a toggle rather than a one
time change.

- It is slightly easier to KO the noble with the ticket in Shadowing the Enemy
without being noticed.

- You cannot body carry the noble with the ticket until you have grabbed
the ticket from his hand in Shadowing the Enemy; this fixes the bug where the ticket
would not be recognized for players with "Auto Search Bodies" set to True.

- The mechanists will no longer attack the security turrets if lured into the
back hallway in Shadowing the Enemy.

- It is now easier to jump onto the sarcophagus leading from the graveyard
to the catacombs in Down Among Dead Men.

- The Orb no longer leaves your inventory if you destroy/incinerate the
bones after grabbing the Orb in Down Among Dead Men.

- The Statue Guardians in Down Among Dead Men are now indestructable.

- You can no longer "break" the beginning of Into the Fray if you flashbomb
the first 3 Hammerites over the fence.

- Truart can no longer be gassed in ...of Ill Repute.

- Fixed key problems with the sleeping guard and casino safe in ...of Ill
Repute.

- Light radii tweaks in ...of Ill Repute.

- Placed crate to help escape out of roof area with hidden gas arrow in
...of Ill Repute.

- Fixed 100 loot that was out of world in Grand Hotel.

- The final end boss now "dies" correctly if you hit him with an ice arrow,
then a fire arrow or combustion arrow.

The words "Streamlined" and "ambitious" fit this fan campaign perfectly in my opinion. Thief 2X feels streamlined compared to the two old Thief titles. Possibly the most well-known FM outside of the Thief community, it definitely shows its age in some regards (especially the story, some elements feel a bit too "fan-ficy") and is a bit long in the tooth for repeat playthroughs. Still, this is a fan mission that is still worthy of your time and expands on groundworks laid out in Thief 2.

Cinematics, emotional storyline, reocurring characters, new gameplay, new designs, textures - this mod has it all! A master-class in modmaking, considering WHEN it was made. T2X is a nice addition to the storyline of T2 main game. That you don´t play as Garrett might feel a bit unusual first, but then it´s a refreshing experience. They designed everything to fit it to Zaya: The health bar, light-gem, player sounds and even the weapons are different(although the KO hammer is just a disguised blackjack).
