Compulsory Egress is one of the most atmospheric missions in the scene. A huge, abandoned town bending under a mysterious crisis. It's up to Detective Garrett to figure out what's behind this!
Kidding, he just wants his loot.
Exploration is great, there's much to uncover. Exploring the interiors of this city mission feels very different from, say, playing "Legacy of Knoss". The town is largely abandoned, and the rooms and apartments are vacant, ruined, or worse. The rooms don't tell a story about city life. They tell a story about the fate of its denizens. The story is a masterclass of visual cues and clues revealed in readables. One of my favorite bits involves an entirely optional section you can only see after you complete the City Hall area.
On the gameplay side, things largely work. I especially loved roving through the City Hall, the mission's "dungeon". There's one annoying issue that plagued me throughout the entire mission: mantling is sometimes finnicky, or doesn't work. Even objects that were clearly meant to be mantled (like balconies) sometimes just don't function, resulting in you falling to your death.
Aside from that, this mission is highly impressive and a joy to explore. It might feel overwhelming at first, but that's part of the fun!
