Running Interference feels extremely simple, yet hides one pretty obtuse objective in the Expert difficulty mode. The main objective only takes you through the mansion's basement. This means that on Normal, you don't even have to enter the place proper. On Expert, you're given a 200 gem value requirement. Finding the gems requires explicit discovery of secret compartments hidden in the toughest to find places. They're neat, but it's strange to be made mandatory. On the other hand, I guess that's fitting for an Expert thief.
The interior looks nice, better than anything seen in mansions from the first game. At the same time, the mansion feels very basic. It has some neat details, like a music hall and a pretty cool elevator to carry dinner between floors. There is little else to it, though. Storywise, it's funny to see Basso the Boxman return, but that's it. It's a nice start, but feels somewhat underwhelming. I recall getting hooked to Thief 2 only during the second mission...
