It's autumn. The harvest is over, and there's much food to go around, but no money. Hired guards in the City are packing themselves into the warm mansions of the rich, trying to avoid the frost. And my hands are too cold in the autumn chill to be able to pickpocket. In fact, I am left with so little money that I can't afford the equipment to get myself inside a mansion.
I've decided instead to pick on a different sort of people. There's a superstitious little family just nearby the Plague Quarter walls. Like clockwork, once every week, they vanish from their domicile to do... whatever it is superstitious folk do. Some of the local Builders have muttering nonsense about evil noises coming from their house, but I don't pay much attention to their religious rumor-mongering.
I've figured that right about now is the regular time that these creeping serpents disappear. So I will sneak right inside and burgle their house while their backs are turned. they've locked themselves in, so I'll have to find a secondary entrance.
Time to begin.
