Actually, today should have been the day when Lady Karen Dark and her fiance, Count Robert planned to marry. But when she happened to leave the bridal house for a few minutes, hours before the important event, some men attacked, catching her servants and guards by surprise. They stole the wedding dress and her jewels and violently kidnapped the groom who was waiting in his study room.
It looks like there is a party who is still emphatically raising objections against their marriage...
Wilfred, the count’s brother, is an obsessive gambler and drinker who suffers from choleric outbreaks – or to keep it simple: he is lacking discipline. In his early years, he had approached dubious people who were not very much to the family’s liking. After arguments turned into a fight, their father, who passed away a while ago, decided to refuse him his birth right to inherit the family’s fortune. His younger brother is now in charge as their father believes that Wilfred is incapable of looking after their property and their fortune. Lady Dark’s future husband is responsible for the money and his brother is financially dependent on him.
As is happens, Wilfred is now up to his ears in debt and his creditors are right behind him. In front of his dubious friends, While he was very drunk, he came up with an idea of how he could get his hands on the family’s fortune. Wilfred is not the kind of person who goes for murder himself, but his friends are a different kind of people. When Robert decides all of a sudden to marry Lady Dark, giving her a share of the inherited money, Wilfred’s friends are forced to come up with something immediately as securing his financial situation is in their own best interests.
Unlike Wilfred, they get on with the plan. They will force Count Robert to cede his right to the money, and, when that is done, they will tie him up properly and throw him into the docks’ waters. They thought of using the bride to put pressure on him, but luckily they couldn’t find her. As long as the groom does not know that she is “not” being tortured in the room next door, he can be blackmailed. Her wedding gown and her jewels are perfect for their plan.
Lady Dark helped you with a few very profitable jobs in the past as her valuable contacts to the town’s high society give her access to some very useful information. Rescue her groom and get rid of the four kidnappers. Return her jewels and her wedding dress as well. As soon as she is married, she will reward you generously.
The drunkard is in desperate need of a little “calibration”. Steal his most precious piece: it is an adorned drinking-horn which he wears on a chain around his neck when he is patrolling the casinos and the taverns. He keeps it safe in a jewelery box in his room. The key is always with him.
