I was not a fan of the intro to this mission. I got frustrated quickly. You are even warned in the briefing, but I wasn't expecting a literal translation. The mission starts with a fire arrow in mid-flight heading toward a pile of explosives. Cool, right? Who wouldn't stand a bit to watch that? Well, if you do, even for 1 second (literal)... You die!
You don't see the Hammerite that spawns immediately behind you with his hammer already raised, and if the first thing you do isn't RUN, you will be restarting. Since this is the beginning and no progress is lost, AND it was well explained in the briefing, I not only find it tolerable, but also a little fun once I get my head around the logistics of it. It feels like a cheap shot until you calm down and realize we were warned, we just aren't used to this kind of start.
There were some rough spots and unforgivable nuances, like locks facing backwards. I say unforgivable, as that should easily come up in testing. But it's also minor. Based on lighting and texture choices, there were also a few points where it wasn't clear where to go next.
The objectives are unique, there are some inventive uses of the map and game engine, the plot exists (which is sadly rare), and it's overall quite fun.
