A rarity for FMs is custom sound and video. While not particularly animated, this FM has an intro video. The voicing is very well done, but the audio quality itself is poor. Still it puts you in the mood for a great plot and a fun mission to play. There is also custom voicing on one of the npcs.
The writing is well done. In most missions, including the original game, I start skimming readables. It's very rare to find something that keeps me interested. I read every word in this mission. And it's not just fluff... every room designed and all the pathing works well with the story around it.
Writing is not to add something to do, it draws you in, directs you around the level, and rewards you for your efforts.
This is one of my favorite FMs to play.
There is a balance to missions that are too big versus being too small. Even a great FM design can be tedious to traverse or have frustrating parts. Finding the right size and note to end on is important. This mission feels complete, but its size is on the small side. There is a small "city" component that I wish were flushed out more. Instead of fake doors, some actual houses or other points of interest to rob would be really welcome and help to sooth the sadness of such a great FM ending so soon.
