Precious Cargo is nice. It has a creative setting and good enough level design. Yet, aside from one story element that made me somewhat tear up, I feel like there's rather little to write about. The pirate treasure contains a cool surprise, and the submarine looks pretty cool, even though it's really cramped to traverse in place (which honestly returns in the sub-aquatic bases).
So let's write about the story instead! Garrett shows a rarely seen friendly side, calling the Pagan agent Lotus a "friend". This felt genuinely heart-wrenching. Whether Garrett really considered Lotus a friend is up for debate (they didn't really know each other), but I read it as Garrett being so willing to ease Lotus' suffering, he ends up calling him that (Lotus calls Garrett his friend a few seconds before). Lotus considers Garrett more than an asset to the Pagan cause, he considers Garrett a part of the group. Garrett, as we've seen in previous cutscenes, doesn't really give a damn. Yet here he's willing to drop that stance, willing to answer Lotus' obvious desire for connection during his last moments.
This is a huge contrast to how Garrett talked to Cutty while he was dying. Almost as if there was some tough-guy facade to uphold while dealing with people in his line of work. Lotus reaching out in a more friendly manner might have been the reason Garrett showed a much softer side of himself...
Anyway, that's the interesting part!
