Fun mansion-with-a-dark-secret mission. Loads of secrets, including great hidden passages. Fab attention to detail. One or two annoying key-hunt moments, but nothing fatal. Was deeply drawn into the mystery and really appreciated how much of the set-up paid off, even in little things, like a body or a hidden passage viewed early whose true purpose is revealed hours later.
However, toward the end I felt it got overloaded – [SPOILERS] not a ghost but a demon! And… an army of demons! And…zombies in cages? And…demons…in cages? The horn of Quintus, also, for some reason? I just wanted to wrap up the story without needing to go through a billion McGuffin hunts (the elemental keys). Compares unfavorably to Ominous Bequest, a mission with numerous similarities and ultimately better execution. Still really enjoyable.
Best bit: The building of the mystery – all the different setup story beats play out perfectly, with humor and pathos to spare. Worst bit: The elemental key hunt. So much backtracking & platforming – neither of which is fun in this engine.
