A very short project from a newbie author messing around with Dromed. But unlike the many other maps that have been released with absolutely no care for the finished product, this one actually has enough of a structure to be considered a playable mission...barely.
Lord Burkhard got robbed and has decided to kill off every single thief in the city as a result...as one does. Garrett's friend got captured and now our master thief wants to rescue him. That's about it. Garrett's captured friend isn't even important enough to have a name, so that should tell you plenty about the quality of storytelling that's at play here. The mission actually has some semi-decent attempts at architecture and design. Several points where the author could have just slapped on a basic stone wall texture and called it a day, but has decided to roll up their sleeves and add a bit more detail to spruce it up. The result is...still on the bad side, but I can recognise and see the effort. This fact alone puts it way above missions like Deceptive Sceptre or Uninvited Guests where there was clearly no love put into it.
The only other thing of note that I found quite goofy is the fact that Burkhard knew that Garrett is going to try and rescue his friend and has thus left a note saying that he's going to the dungeons to kill him. Along with the notice explaining his intentions he has also left a key that opens the door leading to the dungeons. I don't know if I should subtract or add points for that considering it got me to crack a smile and shake my head slightly in response.
It's okay for a newbie project. If you're a Thief addict like myself you're probably going to find some entertainment here, but for regular players...maybe look for something a bit higher quality than this.
