Bridgeport, city of fortune they say. Well, it hasn't held much for me so far. All I've done since arriving is waste my time on frustrating, badly paying jobs that don't even require the considerable skills I have. As such I was planning on spending another night at the pub, admiring the barmaid's assets and drinking away my frustrations with the couple of coins I've earned.
So far, so boring. But everything changed when an old pal of mine walked in. I hadn't seen him in years, and he was just as surprised to see me. He told me that he'd just quit his job at Lord Aaron's residence, or, to be more precise, was fired for stealing.
He griped about the fortune Lord Aaron had, and how he couldn't understand why the lord was complaining about him stealing a few coins. I grew interested and asked him to tell me more about Lord Aaron's money.
It turns out that beyond the normal trinkets that noblemen have, Lord Aaron also possesses a valuable scepter covered with jewels. He's also very proud of this scepter and displays it in his own private throne room.
That information wasn't worth much by itself, but my old pal also told me that the lord is out tonight, along with his wife and the captain of his guard. In addition, he informed me that one of the last services he performed for Lord Aaron before he got the boot was cleaning the cellar. While working down there, he heard water and steam behind one of the walls.
It seems that the manor abuts the sewers, giving me a chance at an easy entrance. Finally, fortune had smiled on my little life. I found the part of the sewer that runs beneath Lord Aaron's mansion, and was able to weaken a section of the wall.
And so, here I am, lurking in the dark, waiting for the moment to make good on the chance that fate's given me.
Let it begin.
