This unusual proposal intrigues me, a competitive innkeeper wants to ruin the reputation of another establishment which has a better location by a wall gate and is owned by a noble family with political connections. If the place becomes known for losing your valuables, he figures folks will continue further into the quarter to stay at his place instead.
So I'll go in twice, first night to get some loot and shake them up, and then after they presumably attempt to "tighten security" to reassure everyone, I'll do it again and clear the place out, which is what I was really hired for: driving the point home that nothing they can do will prevent it.
